This intensive introductory 4-day training provides training in an Emotion Focused evidence-based couple therapy developed by Leslie Greenberg and Sue Johnson. Â This approach focuses on de-escalating negative cycles, restructuring negative couples interactions into more virtuous ones, and strengthening the emotional bond in couples. You will learn the 5 stages and 14 steps of couples therapy and recent advances to theory and practice made by Greenberg and Goldman that will help you conceptualize and resolve relationship difficulties stemming from both love and power.
You will learn how to work with emotions of anxiety and sadness, related to threats to attachment security in addition to the emotions of fear, shame and anger related to threats to identity, status or power. In addition, the role of positive emotions such as warmth, love, caring, joy, and excitement are discussed. Furthermore, you will learn about a Forgiveness Treatment Approach related to working with Emotional Injury and issues of Betrayal developed by Greenberg, Warwar, and Malcolm.
This training is both didactic and experiential, centered on helping you become deeply familiar with the EFT-C model and interventions. You will receive in-depth skill training through a combination of brief lectures, video demonstrations, live modeling, case discussions, and extensive supervised role-playing practice.
